Company Description
Vattenfall is one of Europe's largest producers and retailers of electricity and heat. Our main markets are Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the United Kingdom. The Vattenfall Group employs approximately 21,000 people. For over a hundred years, we have electrified industries, supplied energy to homes, and transformed lives through innovation.
Business Area (BA) Generation is responsible for Vattenfall's nuclear and hydropower operations. We aim to seize all business opportunities and contribute to a continued efficient and environmentally friendly energy system. On a rapidly changing energy market, we face both challenges and opportunities. With a significantly increasing electricity demand, new development opportunities arise, while we continue to develop Vattenfall's existing assets.
Fleet Development is a staff unit within BA Generation responsible for strategic work, optimization of our (production) assets, monitoring and support to our business units, as well as business development. This involves, for example, conducting analyses, strategy development, driving strategic processes, and pursuing various business and development opportunities. We also monitor BA Generation's goals and progress, track external issues, and conduct benchmarks. Additionally, the Head of Fleet Development holds the role of Chief Nuclear Officer (CNO), responsible for ensuring nuclear safety perspectives, with supporting resources linked to this role within Fleet Development.
About the Role
As a Strategic Advisor Back-End, you will be part of a team of skilled and engaged colleagues. The role offers a high degree of variety in tasks, many contact points, significant influence, and an international perspective in several areas.
The Strategic Advisor Back-End is responsible for leading, developing, analyzing, and coordinating BA Generation's work within the back-end (waste management, decommissioning, and final disposal) from a holistic perspective.
The role supports management by producing strategic analyses, decision support, and recommendations, while ensuring coordination between internal functions, including Business Units, and external actors.
The position operates at a strategic and tactical level, focusing on governance, owner dialogue, contractual issues, regulatory matters, and the development of long-term solutions, while contributing to optimizing the entire value chain from waste production to final disposal.
Examples of your tasks:
- Lead, coordinate, or participate in strategic investigations and initiatives within BA Generation, focusing on waste management, decommissioning, and final disposal.
- Act as Fleet's representative towards waste and decommissioning operations, analyzing, evaluating, and supporting progress in prioritized strategic areas, and reporting developments and improvement proposals to the Head of BA Generation.
- Represent BA Generation in forums and steering groups related to the business's prioritized strategic areas and major projects, as well as within the waste and decommissioning field.
- Evaluate business risks and economic consequences of strategic initiatives, investments, and contractual solutions, and produce business cases and decision support that support the business's long-term development and cost-effectiveness.
- Contribute with a holistic perspective to find solutions and collaboration within the waste and decommissioning field that optimizes the value chain from waste production to final disposal.

You are clear and engaging in your communication and thrive in an environment where much is happening and where you can contribute to progress. You find solutions even when the path forward is not obvious, and take responsibility for your deliverables while actively seeking out the knowledge you need.
With a strategic perspective, you have the ability to see both the big picture and the details, weigh long-term consequences, and handle multiple parallel tasks with structure and flexibility.
